NATIONAL SPACE DAY CELEBRATED ON 21-23 AUGUST, 2024
The Government of India has declared August 23rd of every year as ‘National Space Day’ to commemorate the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, which accomplished the safe and soft landing of Vikram lander at ‘Shiv Shakti’ point and the deployment of Pragyaan Rover on the lunar surface on 23rd August, 2023. The declaration of National Space Day has also been published in the Gazette of India. On account of this, Rajhans Vidyalaya celebrated National Space Day on 21st, 22nd & 23rd August 2024 with an exciting array of activities designed to inspire and educate our students about the wonders of space. This day, dedicated to exploring the vastness of the cosmos, offered our young learners a unique opportunity to engage with the science, technology, and mysteries that define space exploration.
PRIMARY SECTION
The primary section of Rajhans Vidyalaya celebrated National Space Day on 23, August 2024. To celebrate the success of Chandrayaan -3 Mission, art and painting sessions were organized in school and based on that discussions were held to make the students aware of the importance of Space Missions.
SECONDARY SECTION
Rajhans Vidyalaya celebrated the first-ever National Space Day with a series of engaging activities, honoring India's Chandrayaan-3 mission. Secondary section conducted the following activities on 21 August, 2024:-
Std. V students participated in an "Art Connect" activity, where they connected dots to create images of rocket launchers, astronauts, and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. This creative task aimed to introduce students to space exploration and the inspiring legacy of Dr. Kalam, blending art with education in a fun and meaningful way.
Std. VI students read a graphic novel on Dr. Kalam’s life, gaining valuable insights into his contributions to India's space program. The novel captivated the students, making the learning experience both enjoyable and enlightening. Std. VII students explored the online portal "Bharat on the Moon," engaging in an interactive activity where they built pictures related to rockets and Dr. Kalam. This hands-on experience sparked their imagination and deepened their understanding of space science.
Std. VIII students performed a play titled "My Beloved Moon: The Search for the Queen"
as part of the Chandrayaan Utsav. Their enthusiastic performances brought the story to life, leaving the audience captivated.
The celebration was a resounding success, infusing students with curiosity and motivation to explore more about space science while instilling pride in India's remarkable achievements in space exploration.
SENIOR SECONDARY SECTION
The day began with an interactive presentation that introduced students to the history of space exploration. We delved into the ground breaking achievements of space agencies like NASA, highlighted the contributions of astronauts, and discussed the future possibilities of space travel. Students were fascinated by the stories of moon landings, Mars rovers, and the International Space Station. Students participated actively in activities like Space module videos, Picture builders, Graphic novels, Picture puzzle, Videos, that allowed them to experience space science in a fun and engaging way. The physics of the Chandrayaan-3 module was shown and discussed with the science stream students of Std. XII. Topics covered included astrodynamics, satellites and their motion, reduced mass, orbital mechanics, the rocket equation, and launch & stabilization.
The day concluded with a discussion on the future of space exploration, emphasizing
the role that today’s students will play in advancing our knowledge of space. National Space Day was a resounding success, leaving our students inspired and excited about the infinite possibilities that lie beyond our planet. We are proud to have provided them with this opportunity to learn, create, and dream big. As we look forward to the future, we hope that this day has sparked a lifelong interest in space and science in our students, guiding them towards a path of discovery and innovation.
