On April 22, 2025, to mark Earth Day, Grade XI students of Rajhans Vidyalaya engaged in a transformative learning experience that integrated environmental education with digital innovation. The day featured two interlinked initiatives: a Nature Exploration Activity and participation in the national “QR Codes for Flora” campaign.

Students explored the Gurukul area, where each pair selected a plant, shrub, or tree and identified it using the PlantNet app. What might once have been overlooked became a source of curiosity, as students discovered the unique names, traits, and ecological significance of each species. This immersive activity sparked a deeper understanding of biodiversity and fostered a strong sense of environmental responsibility.

Returning to the computer lab, students extended their learning by researching their chosen plant and creating standardized QR code cards. These cards linked to concise profiles containing relevant botanical and environmental details, blending their fieldwork with digital skills. A submission deadline of April 25 ensured timely completion with consistency and quality.

This hands-on, tech-enabled activity aligned with the national “QR Codes for Flora” campaign, launched by the Department of School Education & Literacy under Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE. The initiative encourages schools to tag campus trees with QR codes, offering quick access to informative content and promoting environmental awareness through everyday interaction.

Supported by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), the program aims to cultivate a generation of students who are both digitally literate and environmentally conscious. By taking part, Rajhans Vidyalaya students joined a larger mission to integrate sustainability into daily life, proving that small actions—like scanning a code—can lead to meaningful change.
