CAREER GUIDANCE SESSION FOR ICAR CIFE COURSE - 7 OCTOBER 2024
On 7th October, 2024, a career guidance session was conducted at Rajhans Vidyalaya for the students of Grade XI and XII. The speaker for session was Dr. Kundan Kumar, Senior Scientist Aquatic Environment and Health Management Division ICAR-CIFE, MUMBAI who focused on providing insights into the ICAR CIFE (Indian Council of Agricultural Research – Central Institute of Fisheries Education) courses and the various career opportunities available in the field of fisheries and aquaculture.
The primary objective of the session was to educate students about the ICAR CIFE courses. Highlight the career prospects in fisheries and aquaculture. Provide guidance on the admission process and eligibility criteria. Encourage students to consider careers in the agricultural and fisheries sectors.
The session began with an introduction to ICAR CIFE, its history, and its role in promoting education and research in fisheries and aquaculture. The speaker emphasized the importance of fisheries in the Indian economy and the global demand for sustainable aquaculture practices. He also mentioned in detail the courses which includes B.F.Sc (Bachelor of Fisheries Science), M.F.Sc (Master of Fisheries Science), and Ph.D. programs in specialized fields.
The session highlighted the diverse career opportunities available to graduates of ICAR CIFE courses, including roles in research, academia, government agencies, the private sector and also provides scholarship for graduation and Ph.D. programme where one can be self-independent. Examples of successful alumni and their contributions to the field were shared to inspire students. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify their doubts regarding the courses and career paths.
The career guidance session on ICAR CIFE courses was highly informative and well-received by the students. It successfully provided them with a clear understanding of the opportunities in the field of fisheries and aquaculture. The session motivated many students to consider pursuing careers in this sector, contributing to the growth and sustainability of the fisheries industry.
