“Emotional wellbeing is just as important to us as Breathing is.”
A counselling session was held by the manager of Drishti; Ms. Haveesha Buddhdev, that dealt with their emotional and academic issues and how to identify and tackle them. It was an interactive and a knowledgeable session.  Teachers were very forthcoming in their responses to the questions asked by her that made the whole interaction very interesting. The insights provided by her regarding the different aspects of identifying and dealing with these special children was very helpful. She also clarified the difference between the counsellor and the special educator as well as specified their respective roles. While the session was on teachers could identify with the symptoms mentioned by the counsellor and relate to specific cases. She emphasised the usage of FID rule before identifying the child as a special child. In addition she requested teachers to segregate the students of the class based on their academic performances, which will in turn help them in their teaching learning process. At the end of the session teachers got their queries clarified which was very helpful.
