CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME ON VALUE EDUCATION – 21 ST JUNE, 2025

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” — Nelson Mandela
The quote from Nelson Mandela is a powerful reminder that inside a school building, inside a classroom, sitting behind a desk, or standing in front of a classroom is someone changing the world.
The CBSE Capacity Building Programme on Value Education was conducted at Rajhans Vidyalaya, Theatre Hall, on 21st June, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. under the guidance of two esteemed resource persons — Dr. Shitala Prabhu and Ms. Khyati Dwarkadas. The day-long workshop aimed to strengthen educators’ understanding of value education and equip them with practical strategies to integrate values into the classroom experience.
The workshop began with an engaging discussion on the importance of values in the holistic development of learners. The session emphasized that values are not merely taught but imbibed through real-life examples and consistent reinforcement. Activities designed to help teachers reflect on and prioritize values were conducted, including a questionnaire exercise where participants identified values they found most essential for today’s generation.
Case studies and real classroom issues were examined to explore how values could be applied in difficult or sensitive situations. The resource persons stressed that inculcating values is the teacher’s responsibility, and educators must model them consistently. Through open discussions, it was highlighted that values can differ based on individual perspectives, and educators need to be sensitive to these diverse views while ensuring the core values are respected.
An insightful segment explored the influence of mass media in shaping young minds. Movie clips showcasing various values were presented, followed by role-playing activities where participants re-enacted key moments from the clips, bringing out the relevance of empathy, honesty, resilience, and compassion in real-life scenarios.
The concluding part of the workshop focused on integrating value education into the school curriculum. Participants agreed that values must be engraved into the education system not just through formal instruction but by sharing experiences, storytelling, and continuous reinforcement. The resource persons stressed the need for educators to lead by example and create a classroom culture that nurtures respect, integrity, and social responsibility.
Overall, the workshop was highly interactive, thought-provoking, and enriching, equipping teachers with the tools and mind-set to nurture a value-based learning environment.
