WORKSHOP ON SUSTAINABLE BOTANY-21 JANUARY 2026

A workshop on Sustainable Botany was successfully conducted in Bhavan’s college (Department of Botany) on 21st January,2026 from 8:00 am to 9.15am with the aim of creating awareness about eco-friendly practices, plant conservation, and hands-on learning in botanical sciences. The workshop included a series of interactive activities, laboratory visits, demonstrations, and educational games, making it both informative and engaging.
Seed Bomb Making Activity
Participants were introduced to the concept of seed bombs as an effective method for promoting greenery and ecological restoration. The process of preparing seed bombs using soil, clay, and native plant seeds was demonstrated. Students actively participated and learned how seed bombs help in afforestation and biodiversity conservation.
Paper Mache Craft
An eco-friendly paper Mache craft session was conducted using waste paper. Participants learned how recycled materials can be transformed into useful and decorative items, promoting the idea of waste management and sustainability.
Display of Indigenous Medicinal Plants
A special display of indigenous medicinal plants was arranged. The importance, traditional uses, and medicinal properties of various native plants were explained. This activity helped participants understand the value of preserving traditional knowledge and local biodiversity.
Soil Testing Laboratory Visit
In the soil testing lab, students were introduced to different soil parameters such as pH, moisture content, and nutrient composition. Demonstrations highlighted the role of soil health in sustainable agriculture and plant growth.
Mycorrhizal Laboratory
The Mycorrhizal lab visit helped participants understand the symbiotic relationship between fungi and plant roots. The role of mycorrhizae in enhancing nutrient uptake and improving soil fertility was explained through models and demonstrations.
Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory
During the visit to the plant tissue culture lab, students learned about micro propagation techniques, sterilization procedures, and the importance of tissue culture in mass multiplication and conservation of plant species.
Games and Interactive Activities
To make the workshop lively, several educational games related to botany and the environment were conducted. These activities encouraged teamwork, critical thinking, and reinforced learning in a fun manner.
The workshop on Sustainable Botany was highly informative and interactive. It enhanced participants’ understanding of sustainable practices, plant conservation, and modern botanical techniques. The combination of practical activities, lab exposure, and games made the workshop a valuable learning experience.
