The Civic Sense Function was organized in the Primary section of Gurukul (Primary Building) on August 19, 2026, to raise awareness among students about being responsible and considerate members of society. The programme focused on developing positive civic behavior and encouraging students to incorporate these core values into their everyday lives.
The event commenced during the morning assembly, where the Civic Sense board was inaugurated by Principal Mrs. Ritu Dubey. Following the inauguration, Grade 4 students presented a street play (nukkad natak) highlighting how small actions make a big impact. Their performance effectively contrasted responsible and irresponsible behaviors, encouraging peers to make thoughtful choices. A group song followed, highlighting the importance of keeping public places clean, reducing waste, avoiding single-use plastics, and caring for plants and animals to foster a healthier environment.
Addressing the assembly, Principal Mrs. Ritu Dubey emphasized the importance of abiding by rules, respecting others, maintaining clean surroundings, and preserving public property. Every attendee then took a pledge to uphold these principles and contribute toward a better community.
The function was held a second time for another cohort, during which Director Sir, Major General Deepak Saxena, inaugurated the Civic Sense board. He was joined by senior staff members, including Vice Principal Mrs. Sunita Raikar, Mrs. Greeshma Shetty, Mrs. Geetha Murudi, Mrs. Bidisha Moulik, and Mr. Arun Awasarmol. In his address, Major General Saxena reminded students that civic sense starts with individual accountability, urging them not to wait for others but to lead by example and inspire those around them.
The programme concluded with a powerful message: every individual plays a vital role in building a cleaner, safer, kinder, and more responsible society. The Civic Sense function offered an enriching, age-appropriate experience that successfully translated an essential social concept into actionable everyday habits.
